Rambling thoughts

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Not quite a rant, venting session, or anything terribly cranky. (more…)

Can’t decide

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

So, is it better to read the book first, or see the movie? I’ve been on the fence since I could read.

Doesn’t everyone do this?

OK, I may be a little obsessive…..

Doesn't everyone do this?

Excessive purchases continued

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Current mood: tired

Been forgetting to keep up the list of excess purchases…..looking through the credit card bill I see….

Bottle of water at an amusement park (first time I used a credit card in a vending machine)
Small amount of crap at IKEA
Not sure why I spent $50 at CVS (although I think expensive sunscreen was in the bag)
Fair amount of birthday-related booze (also for Friday night dinner)
Wow, spent a lot on travel; luckily getting reimbursed for a bunch of that
Blew a lot of cash on coffee and lunches

All in all, getting better. Didn’t check out of the usual suspects after gathering a sizable shopping cart quite a few times. Avoiding Target.

Cake on the brain

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Sketching a cake design without an occasion. I think it’s a wedding cake, but could be adapted since I have no intention of getting married any time in the near future if at all. 3-4 tiers, white, base of each tier wrapped in satin ribbon, and an arrangement of gum paste purple orchards.

Yup, watching Ace of Cakes again. Took a break for a while. Tivo has 6 new episodes stored. Waiting for laundry. Longing for bed.

Ooo laundry’s done! Night.

Put my excessive shopping to good use

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

I actually went through Target and didn’t buy anything excessive. Put away a bunch of things I knew I didn’t need — a couple shirts, some curtains, sheets, containers.

But did stock up on a few household items on sale - mop head, kitty litter, laundry detergent, hand soap. However, I completely forgot cat food, which was what I went there for =)

Social networking overload approaching

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

In an effort to update all the social networking services I’m on I’m trying out http://hellotxt.com/. Not sure if MySpace will put “Megg has updated her profile” 10 times or not, so let me know if I’m making the friend status box all clogged. I’m just updating with what I post on Twitter, so it’s either what I’m doing, thinking, or part of a larger conversation.

Personally I’m not a fan of using Twitter for conversation, but it’s been moving in that direction. I use it a lot at work, although we’re shifting work/task posts to a different site. Getting hard to keep track.

Ugh, bedtime.

e-book the new viewbook?

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Could this be the future of the viewbook? My present theory is kids get info online, but want the printed viewbook for their scrapbook/box. Or, the parents want it for a keepsake. So, if it goes electronic, what happens when the batteries run out?
